Introduction

Gwesty'r Emlyn Hotel is a 21 bedroom hotel offering guests comfortable accommodation. We have bar, lounge and restaurant areas which are open to the public. We have a function suite for up 170 people, a gym, sauna and spa bath ajoined to a conservatory for lighter meals. All of our public rooms are accessible in a wheel chair and we have a disabled friendly bedroom on the ground floor with it's own splash room.

  • The hotel has just undergone a full refurbishment without spoiling the traditional features of the building but bringing it up to date in decor and comfort.
  • The hotel is set in the small town of Newcastle Emlyn which is a beatiful market town with all local amenities needed including historic attractions.

  • set in the market town of Newcastle Emlyn, there are regular buses to and from Carmarthen, Cardigan, Lampeter, Aberystwyth, Tenby etc. Please contact reception for further information on these or alternative routes.
  • nearest train station is Carmarthen which would take you to Swanswa, Cardiff etc
  • the hotel has it's own car park at the rear of the hotel so you can walk to browse around the shops and cafe's in the town without any difficulty.
  • most equipment needed can be hired locally but please ask reception for help with local knowledge
  • the town public toilets are approximately 4 minutes walk from the front of the hotel
  • there are a number of local taxi's that will pick-up and drop-off at the hotel by prior arrangement, reception can book this for you
  • Gwesty'r Emlyn Hotel does not have a lift and most of the rooms are on either the 1st or 2nd floors.
  • we have one bedroom on the ground floor that is disable friendly with a splash room and a double bed. We reccommend that an able bodied person stays with them for their own safety

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

Gwesty'r Emlyn Hotel has a large car park at the rear of the hotel which is accessible through the archway from the main street or from the back entrance near the church. The car park is for hotel users only.

  • you may drop your bags off at the rear entrance before parking (parking only 40 metres from entrance) or a member of staff can help you carry your bags from the car
  • the car park is tarmac. all other external surfaces are tarmac or slate
  • there are hotel parking barriers on each entrance/exit
  • a contact telephone number is displayed externally
  • we do not accept any pets in the hotel apart from guide dogs
  • all external signage is smooth on either metal or plastic
  • staff are happy to help people to and from their car or taxi
  • the surface from the car park to the entrance is a smooth, flat tarmac. The entrance itself is slate flooring on a small slope
  • the car park and external area's are well lit and have security cameras

Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area

  • there are 2 entrances to the main building of the hotel. The first is the rear, main entrance which has a slate floor and a small slope. The second is the front entrance from the main road wich is a slate flooring with 2 steps and a hand rail.
  • staff are on hand to help any customer in and out of the hotel.
  • music can be turned down to suit the customer
  • a pad and pen is available on arrival by requesting from reception
  • lighting in the reception area is bright and provided by a mixture of spots, pendants with shades and picture lights, some in the ceiling/walls and others hanging
  • additional keys to rooms are available at reception
  • there is a seating area in reception
  • staff are happy to show people around the facilities
  • the entrance doors are exterior doors which are side hung
  • the lighting is good throughout the entrance and reception area's, doormats are in both entrances but are non-moving and non-slip
  • the reception and entrance door opening times are 7.00am - 11.00pm
  • the reception desk is approx 4.25 foot with a lower table also available in reception
  • the floor has a slight slope in it from the reception to the rear door
  • all the signage internally is on chome plates with black text/writing
  • there are the two entrance doors for the building that go through to reception and there is also a wide open double door space through into the lounge from reception (almost open-plan)
  • the reception and all entrance doors on on the ground floor level
  • there are no distracting displays in reception

Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc

  • there is no lift and no escalators in Gwesty'r Emlyn Hotel
  • all public services are on the ground level apart from the guest bedrooms which are on the 1st and 2nd floors
  • the flooring throughout the ground floor is either tiled flooring, wooden flooring or carpet and on the 1st and 2nd floors including staircases it is carpeted throughout.
  • lighting throught the publc rooms, corridors and staircases is a mixture of spots, pendants, wall, picture and emergency lights.
  • teletext is available on all TV's in the hotel
  • all signage is on chrome metal with black text/writing
  • all staircases and steps have handrails
  • all doors are normal width and are mainly solid wood or wood with glass panels
  • there are no restrictions for corridors in their width, they are all wider than standard
  • there are toliets close to all public area's

Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc

  • The hotel does not have a lift or an escalator. 
  • All public rooms and area's are on the ground floor. All floors are either tiled, wooden or carpeted.
  • The lights in all public area's are a mixture of natural, ceiling pendants, wall, spots and picture lights.
  • All signage is on chome in black writing/text.
  • There is one small ramp on the tiled floor bewteen the lounges and the toilets.
  • All the doors are made from solid wood and some with glass pannels.
  • The corridors are wider than normal specification.
  • The toilets are easily accessible from all public area's

Public WCs

  • there are toilets from the reception area which cover the restaurant and bar. There is a disabled toilet from the conservatory and in Ty Nest our function room along with standard toilets. All are easily accessible and are on the ground floor. All toilets have either slate tiled flooring or non-slip flooring.
  • all signage is on chome metal with black text/writing.
  • the fire alarm is linked for the whole building and is fitted with noise and visual signals.
  • coat stand is provided in the entrance area.

Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Bar area, Take Away & Cafe

  • lighting is bright and a mixture of spots, wall, pendant and picture lighting. There is also a lot of natural light in the public area's.
  • the restaurant and bar has a wooden floor and the lounges are carpeted.
  • the bar, lounges and restaurant have a mixture of fixed and moveable seating. The seating is a mixture of sofa's, tub chairs, fixed wall seating and stools. All the tables are moveable and are made of wood.
  • menu's and prices are available in a larger text if requested and staff are there to help.
  • we cater for most normal dietary requirements and can for almost anything by prior arrangement.
  • the hotel is no smoking throughout. There are smoking area's outside.
  • the till display is not visable while seated but a paper copy is always presented to the customer first. The till display is visable from all bar's and payment stations.
  • table service is standard for food and beverages.
  • toilets are available from all public rooms including disabled facilities.

Leisure Facilities

  • gym - a disclaimer must be signed before use to say that the guest is fit and healthy
  • sauna, spa bath and gym - minimum age of 18 years old
  • car parking is available at the rear of the hotel
  • leisure facilities are open daily from 8.00am - 8.00pm
  • chek-in for the leisure facilities is at the hotel receptiona and then down a small slope of slate flooring onto a tarmac surface for approx 15 metres and then into the leisure area which has a mixture of wooden flooring, tiled flooring and carpet.
  • signage is on chome metal with black text/writing.
  • lighting is bright using mainly ceiling lights with lit mirrors in the changing rooms.
  • the gym has cardio machines and free weights with floor space for stretching etc.
  • the toilet is approx 10 metres from the gym, sauna and spa bath with disbled access and there are further toilets in the changing rooms which are approx the same distance from the facilities.
  • the changing rooms have shower cubicles in them along with seperate toilet cubicles. they are both open changing rooms with sinks and lit mirrors in them. They have tiled floors and walls.
  • assistance is not available whist using the gym equipment for fitness purposes although help is always available with simple issues or if there is a problem with any of the equipment.

  • the entrance to our function room has wheelchair access and is on the ground floor.
  • the function room is adjoined onto the back of the hotel and has it's own entrance but can also be entered internally from the main building of the hotel through the restaurant.
  • parking is immediatley in front of the function room.
  • the lights is a mixture of spots, pendents and hidden strip lights.
  • a stage is available by prior arrangements and stands at approx 1 foot from the floor.
  • the seating is moveable and has a mixture of round and rectangle tables with stackable function chairs.
  • the function room can seat 170 people for a seated dinner and 200 people for a buffet style
  • toilets are approx 10 metres from the function room with the disbabled facilities only being 5 metres.

  • we have 21 bedrooms, 1 of which is a disabled friendly room on the ground floor and the others are all on the 1st or 2nd floor.
  • the disabled friendly room is easily accessible, has a double bed, carpeted bedroom floor and a large tiled splash room.
  • all the rooms have carpeted bedrooms and tiled bathrooms as standard. Each is a different shape and size due to the age of the building.
  • all the rooms have TV with teletext and telephone that has visual and noise alerts.
  • all the rooms have a wardrobe, dressing table/desk, table and chair(s), hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities, full length mirror and luggage rack.
  • the kettle provided has a externally visual gage on it.
  • the fire alarm also has visual and noise alert.
  • all rooms are accessible without obstruction.
  • the lighting in all rooms is a mixture of spots, pendents, wall and picture lights. All rooms have natural light.
  • we offer single, double, twin, zip-link and kingsize beds depending on the room.
  • all the signage in the room is on chome metal with black text/writing.
  • the entrance to all the rooms is via a staircase apart from the disabled friendly room. Staff are on hand to assist.
  • all the rooms are decorated to a very high standard and have been individually planned giving mixture of colours and tastes.
  • there are no fridges or mini-bars in the rooms - room service is available.

  • all rooms are en-suite and have different size and shaped bathrooms. All rooms have a reasonable sized bathroom that either has a bath and shower or a shower. If it only has a shower then it will be a large one.

  • all fixtures and fittings are modern chome.
  • all toilets are of a standard height and size
  • all bathrooms have lit mirrors and ceiling lighting.
  • shampoo and soap is provided in the bathrooms.

Additional Information

  • Gwesty'r Emlyn Hotel has clear escape routes if needed in the event of a fire and all guests are given the evacuation procedure at check-in. The fire alarm has a visual and noise alert system throught the hotel.
  • Pets are not accepted in the hotel apart from guide dogs.
  • The hotel has no smoking policy thoughout the interior.
  • All mobile networks are available in the area.
  • Wi-Fi is available for guests in the public rooms and the guest bedrooms, however there is an additional charge for this. Please ask a member of staff for more information.
  • There is background music in some area's of the hotel but the sound can be reduced on request.
  • There is a member of staff on site 24 hours a day in case of an emergency.
  • Staff are always available to help guests.
